Is there any reason left to like football????

I was perusing the Times this morning and I came across this article, indicating that prayer is becoming a bigger part of football - I seriously Gabrielled a little bit.

What is this country's obsession with religion - why is religion such a part of public life? I'm not advocating a public policy such that religion is 'forced into the closet', because people should be free to believe whatever they want. I just worry that when groups (Football Teams, etc.) engage in common religious activity (most often of a 'Christian' variety) the legitimacy of the group is lent to the religion being demonstrated, such that groupthink takes over and voila - individuals feel compelled to conform. Gross!

If only the framers had substituted a "from" for that pesky little "of" - we'd be all good.

Freedom from Religion reads better anyway.
