Three Thoughts from my Morning Commute

Okay - so, for my bus ride in to school today - Three thoughts occurred to me.

1. I love crossing guards. There are like 3 schools within a few blocks of my house - so there is a crossing guard on my corner in the morning and in the afternoon - she's a super-nice lady, but I love her presence - it feels very 1950's sense of community without the horseshit conformity pervading society. Secondly, there was an ambulance coming down the street, and girlfriend was on that whistle like somethin' crazy - stopping traffic and directing the ambulance into the contraflow lanes. Well done!

2. There is this woman - yes woman - she's probably early 50's, she's always dressed professionally and I generally see her monday through thursday as I catch my 8:03 bus. Anyway - the morning buses are generally pretty full, as such there is usually a pack of a dozen or so individual's milling around waiting for the bus. Well, this lady - is always the last person to the bus stop, accordingly she tends to be on the outer-rim of the pack. But, the second the bus is visible, she pushes her way to the front - hoping to be the first one on....I don't get it - at my stop it is extraordinary for one to not be able to find a seat and be forced to stand - there's no benefit for her rudeness - except that I want to smack her every morning.

3. Children are not a disability. The seats in the front of the bus are reserved for the elderly and people with disabilities. Children do not allow able-bodied 30-year olds to flout this rule. So take your ass and your child's ass to the back of the bus - or at least for FSM's-sake to the middle.
