Pleasant Surprise

The most fantastic thing happened to me today. I was waiting for the bus, as usual, after school. I was listening to music, paying no attention to anyone.......when all of the sudden I hear someone say "Andy!" - now, nobody has called me Andy since High School - seriously, nobody. I looked up and low and behold it was the person I could appropriately call my 'longest friend' - I went to elementary, middle & high school with this girl and she is possibly the nicest sweetest human being in the history of the world - oh yeah, and her Mom is super-sweet too!

Of course, as things go, people fall out of touch....and the last time I talked to her, she was working in D.C. at a job she loved (she went to GWU for undergrad) - but of course this was about a year or so ago. So imagine my surprise to look up and find her walking toward me in the great city of Pittsburgh. It turns out that she left her job on Friday and rushed to Pittsburgh to start a graduate program at the School of Public Health, which is practically across the street from the Law School. And the best part is that she lives in my neighborhood - like five blocks away. So we exchanged the perfunctory contact information and we're getting together this week.

See, Pittsburgh has done this to me twice now (at the beginning of each academic year) - last year I ran into one of my high school best friends at law school orientation - she was then a 2L.......I think Pittsburgh is trying to keep me here by bringing me such awesome people.

So Jen - Welcome to Steel City - it's awesome & the people here are fabulous!
